With a storyteller’s passion for creating moods, the band’s founding
composer and singer, Jonsu, crafts each song into what can best be
described as a cinematic experience. As lush melodies and enchanting
vocals give way to more frenetic rhythms and pulsating choral motifs, it
becomes clear that Jonsu’s sensibility has less to do with any specific
genre than it does with the creation of an organic whole.
After 4 highly successful Finnish albums - 2 of which went gold while 1
went platinum – the exotic Finnish brew, Indica, was finally ready for a
larger public. Enlisting the talents of producer Tuomas Holopainen of
Nightwish renowned, and the collaboration of an American
poet/screenwriter, Rory Winston, in adapting the lyrics for an
international audience, Indica recently completed its first English album.
With orchestrations arranged by Pip Williams and recorded by Hayden
Bendall at the London-based Air studios, the soon-to-be-released album is
bound to elicit much attention. After a successful 2007 Scandinavian tour,
the five members of Indica are slated to open with Nightwish in April 2009
– this time in a full scale European tour. With mesmerizing vocals,
hypnotic images and words, entrancing keyboards, guitar, theramin,
clarinet, piano and percussions, Indica promises to captivate both your
ears and eyes.
